Lead the closure and transformation of a high-profile, large-scale site
Are you motivated by complex projects, operational leadership, and making a lasting impact on a large scale, high-profile environmental rehabilitation and civil project?
Generator Property Management (GPM) is a government-owned business responsible for the decommissioning, demolition and rehabilitation of former power station sites across NSW.
At Wallerawang, you’ll play a leading role in environmental remediation, site operations and high-value projects that matter to the community, regulators and the ongoing success of GPM.
This is a role for someone who wants to see tangible results from their leadership. Combining operational oversight with strategic decision-making and delivering on those decisions to make a positive and lasting impact on the ground.
The role
As Site Operations & Projects Manager (Western Region Manager), you’ll be the senior point of leadership at the Wallerawang site, reporting directly to the CEO.
You’ll:
Oversee daily site operations while delivering multiple projects, from small initiatives through to large-scale remediation works, including the closure of former fly ash dams.
Lead a small team on-site while managing contractors, consultants, regulators and other stakeholders.
Take responsibility for CAPEX and OPEX budgets of up to $35M per annum, with a strong focus on procurement, tendering, and contractor performance.
Act as the primary contact for regulators, local government and community groups.
Ensure safety, risk management and compliance are embedded in every aspect of site activity.
This is a hands-on role, highly visible on site. Balance leadership and strategy with operational delivery, mentoring your team and driving long term outcomes for the closure and repurposing of the site.
Flexibility is built in: candidates based in Katoomba or other Blue Mountains regions could commute daily, while those based further afield will have access to company-owned accommodation close to the site. A company vehicle is provided for site and business travel.
About you
You’re a senior professional with proven experience in environmental remediation, civil construction, or mine and / or ash / tailings dam closure and rehabilitation projects.
You’ll bring:
At least 10 years’ experience in complex, high-risk, regulated environments.
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Enviro or Civil), Project Management, Environmental Science or a related field.
Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing budgets and contracts.
Stakeholder engagement and communication skills, particularly dealing with regulators, government and local communities
Experience with EPA compliance, Dam Safety NSW requirements, contaminated site remediation, and contract management (highly regarded)
Above all, you’re a confident decision-maker who thrives on accountability, problem-solving and delivering results.
