· Help people navigate debt, fines and unpaid financial obligations · Assist people to build resilience financial security, and independence. · Be mentored by a pioneer of financial counselling.
When money pressure hits hard, people don’t need advice from a distance.
They need someone who can step in, steady things, and help them see a way out.
Walk alongside program participants to assist them in navigating financial crisis and build financial capability.
This is real frontline impact.
You will be an advocate and represent the voice of those in financial crisis. You’ll provide critical support and guidance to resolve and relieve financial stress, impacting daily life and economic prosperity for those already facing marginalisation and disadvantage.
And you won’t be joining a service that’s already set in its ways.
You’ll be part of a newly funded program growing across the Central Coast. You’ll help build stronger financial futures for community from the ground up. Your voice, ideas, and impact will help shape how this support reaches the people who need it most.
The culture here is the difference. It’s small, collaborative, and deeply purpose-driven. People back each other. People care. There’s humour, honesty, and no room for ego. Just work that matters, done well, together.
And the mentorship? Rare.
You’ll work closely alongside Aunty Betty Weule – highly respected in the community, and a pioneer in financial counselling and community advocacy. Decades of experience. Cultural wisdom. Life -changing impact across community.
What you’ll need:
· Diploma of Financial Counselling (or currently working towards it) · Membership or eligibility with the Financial Counsellors’ Association of NSW · Ability to navigate sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism · Strong administration and case management skills · Calm, steady, non-judgemental approach under pressure · Confidence negotiating with creditors, banks, and support services
