Not Just a Diesel Fitter- A Road-Ready, Fault-Finding, People-Training Legend
Let’s start with what this job actually is.
You’ll be working with mechanical machinery gear. This stuff pulls cable, winds reels, lifts heavy things, and powers serious infrastructure projects. You’ll get your hands dirty, your boots dusty, and your brain working.
The business runs two arms: one sells gear, the other hires it out. You’ll be part of the hire crew. What you’ll actually do:
Fix, service, and check machines before they go out and when they come back.
Travel to job sites across QLD (sometimes further) to repair and service the machines.
Use your Trainer and Assessor experience to train the clients on how to use the gear.
Help make sure every machine going out the door is safe, legal, and ready to work.
This job is about 50% on the tools in the workshop and 50% in front of people showing them how not to wreck your good work, as well as conducting service and repair work out on various sites. What you’ll need:
A trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
Solid fault-finding skills. If you stare at a hydraulic diagram and break into a cold sweat, this isn’t for you.
Experience with hydraulic systems.
Comfortable talking to clients. If “training delivery” to you means reading a manual in silence, maybe not.
The Gear:
Mostly Tesmec stringing and cable hauling machinery. Never heard of them? Doesn’t matter. If you’ve worked on complex equipment with hydraulics, steel drums, cradles, pumps, etc., you’ll pick it up fast. The Deal:
Salary: $100K–$120K + super
Vehicle provided for travel
All tools supplied
Travel allowance paid
Base is in Zillmere, QLD
Flexible-ish hours – early starts if you're local, later if you're travelling
Why you’d bother:
If you’re over big teams, big egos, and being just another number- this place is different. It's lean, it’s hands-on, and they actually appreciate hiring people who know what they’re doing. And if you’re the kind of person who can fix machines and stop them breaking in the first place by training people properly- they’ll look after you.
